It is important to know a little about the place you will visit. Before deciding between booking a car or a charter flight, you must consider aspects such as the following:

• Distance between the International Airport and my place of accommodation
• Check the current state of the roads you will travel to reach your destination.
  • Check if these roads and highways are under construction or closed roads will help you to know if you are going to have more traffic than usual or if you will have to use another alternative route. In recent years the country has invested in the construction and expansion of new roads, however these have not yet been completed. Roads can vary from well paved two-lane highways to pothole-ridden dirt roads with treacherous river crossings.

2. Consider your vacation time and your transit time.

Many of the tourist destinations in our country are far from San Jose city. Although Costa Rica is a small country and the distances seems to be very short, roads of our country are not characterized by being straight and comfortable, so the driving experience can be a bit frustrating. Hiring a ground transportation service to get to your destination or even renting a car can take a lot of time, time that you could use to enjoy your vacation.

The closest landing strip to Santa Teresa is Tambor, located about 45 minutes from Santa Teresa. The flight from San Jose takes about 20 to 30 minutes. At the Tambor airport there are transportation facilities to reach your final destination, such as taxis, buses and car rentals.
